Jarrett Butler

 

 Nasceu em Mansfield (perto de Nottingham- Inglaterra) em 1968 e começou a tocar trombone numa brass band local aos doze anos de idade.Foi membro de Orchestra National de Jovens durante vários anos. É ex-Primeiro Trombone de famoso Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band.  Aos 18 anos prosseguiu estudos no Royal Northern College Of Music (Manchester) onde estudou com Peter Gane , Andrew Berryman e Christopher Houlding.
           É atualmente (desde 1993) Primeiro Trombonista na Orquestra Sinfònica Portuguesa (Solista A). Trabalhou regularmente em Portugal com a Orquestra Gulbenkian é Orquestra Nacional do Porto. Foi Professor de Trombone e Música de Câmara de Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra e Professor convidado no Instituto Piaget (Viseu), e do Euphónio na Universidade de Évora. Atualmente e Professor de Trombone na Universidade de Aveiro. Trabalhou com muitos orquestras inglesas incluindo o Hallé Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Opera North e o Scottish Opera. Foi membro fundador do Ensemble Português de Trombones e Ensemble Português de Metais. 
             Neste momento esta muito ativo como arranjador/compositor, com um espoliou de cerca 40 obras por vários formações, principalmente Ensemble dos Metais e Brass Band. Também toca Euphónio, Trompete Baixo e Sacabuxa E regularmente convidado para dar Master Classes em Portugal e Inglaterra. E membro fundador de Portuguese Brass Quintet

               Born 1968 in Mansfield near Nottingham, England ,he started to play the trombone in his local Brass Band at the age of 12.  At the age of 18 he continued his education at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester (1988-1992).His teachers included Peter Gane, Andrew Berryman and Christopher Houlding,
             He has worked and trialed with many of the leading British Orchestras including the Halle Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Opera North and the Orchestra of Scottish Opera He also held the position of Solo Trombone with the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band .Since 1993 he has been Principal Trombone of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra (Sao Carlos Opera House Lisbon Portugal).He is a founder member Portuguese Trombone Ensemble, The Portuguese Brass Ensemble and The Lisbon Trombone Quartet. He is currently Professor of Trombone and Chamber Music at the University of Aveiro and Professor of Euphonium and Chamber Music at the University of Evora. He regularly gives master classes on Solo,Orchestral and Chamber playing both in Portugal and abroad
     Current projects include publication of  arrangements and original compositions for the Orchestral Brass Section,Brass Band and various other formations.
